This extraction shaft has been filled in with stones without any mortar. While filling it in, the miners have built vent pipes that provide the ventilation of the rooms dug around the shaft. The souterrain has been totally reconstructed after extensive archaeological excavations; Lisnagun souterrain (County Cork, Ireland).
