The church of saint Yemrehanna Krestos, uncle of the king Lalibela, was built in a gigantic natural cave during the twelfth century. This church, built with beams and stones layers according to the aksumite tradition, is anterior to the carved churches of Lalibela (region of Lalibela, Ethiopia).
